It’s several years since the Surrey county council declared its intention “…to get everyone of working age online by 2012″. We wonder whether it has succeeded – does anyone know? Perhaps the fact that libraries offer internet access means that the goal has been achieved…
Of course, many cafés and restaurants provide free wi-fi. Bella Italia in Camberley has been an exception, but we’re told that it will be making wi-fi available very soon.
The Camberley Society, a registered charity, has to communicate widely to fulfil its aims. In the past, we relied on an occasional newsletter, but there are quicker and cheaper ways of reaching an audience now. Hence this blog. Welcome!

Of course it is only possible to get someone online if they want to be online. I think just about everyone who wants to be online is. 3G Coverage is good in Camberley, Especially with 02/ GiffGaff.
As a local resident I love the fact the Camberley Society is communicating and engaging in this way. When we all opo our clogs who is going to carry on the community spirit. The best way to engage young people is through this medium.
Thanks Paul. You’ve probably seen the internet stats at http://royal.pingdom.com/2012/08/21/report-social-network-demographics-in-2012/
(I’m in one of the more exclusive categories – not sure whether to be pleased about that or not!)
Totally agree, of course. There’s a danger of continuing to do things the ‘old’ way and waking up one morning to find you’re obsolete and irrelevant.
(PS my free legal 3G Internet access beats your O2 deal!)
